Story with Kitty Connection
In my busy life, I always stop to pay attention to the gentle eyes of small animals. Their gaze and companionship make my life full of warmth and comfort. With this love for little animals, I discovered Kitty Connection. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding loving homes for homeless cats and other small animals in MA. "Because life is better with a cat on your lap!" is the slogan of this organization, which reminds me of those days with small animals.
This organization not only focuses on cats, but also dogs and other small animals that also need love and care. Here, every little life is given new hope, and all of this depends on the loving donations from the society. I want to use my expertise to help more homeless animals. I believe small changes can make the world a warmer place.
Challenges & Opportunities
Final Design Convey Warmth
In redesigning the Kitty Connection website, I faced the challenge of communicating its mission and values to visitors, showcasing cute animal moments, and designing an interface that made donation and volunteering easy.
In order to overcome these challenges, I decided to use an emotional design strategy to show the warm moments of homeless animals through selected pictures and stories to attract the attention of more caring people. The interface for both donating and volunteering is designed to be intuitive and easy to use, aiming to encourage greater participation.
Taking into account the variety of devices users use to browse the site, I adopted a responsive design strategy. I designed a large-screen version suitable for desktop and tablet browsing, and a small-screen version suitable for browsing on mobile phones. This design ensures the best browsing experience no matter what device you use. I am committed to further bringing people closer to homeless animals by improving website accessibility and user satisfaction.
Tablet & Desktop Design
Considering the ongoing warm cause of Kitty Connection, I chose the Rockwell font for the title H1 because its solidity and authority bring a sense of trust, as unwavering as one’s commitment to every animal. The Tahoma font, used for H2 to H6 and paragraph text, ensures barrier-free communication of information because of its clarity and legibility.
I chose a range of warm and eye-catching colors for the site. Bright yellow symbolizes hope and joy, as new families bring bright futures to the little animals; orange represents energy and creativity, reflecting the organization's spirit of constantly looking for innovative ways to promote animal welfare; and blue conveys A sense of trust and tranquility, allowing visitors to feel tranquility and trust. The colors work together to not only enhance visual appeal but also reflect the organization’s commitment to caring for animals and the community.
Mobile Design
If Had More Time...
The design journey of the Kitty Connection website made me realize that design is not only an aesthetic expression, but also a means of conveying information and arousing emotional resonance.
If I had more time, I would like to design and write warm stories for every little animal in Kitty Connection. Through my expertise, I can show the unique and warm moments of each little animal, so that more homeless animals can have warm homes.
